MCDOT to Hold May 19 Virtual Public Hearing About Proposed Rock Creek Forest Sidewalk Construction in Chevy Chase

On Wednesday, May 19 starting at 7 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual public hearing about proposed construction of sidewalks in Chevy Chase. The proposed sidewalk locations are as follows:

  • the West side of Terrace Drive from the Freyman Drive to Farrell Drive;
  • the West side of Farrell Drive from Terrace Drive to Spencer Road;
  • the North side of Spencer Road from Grubb Road to Donnybrook Drive;
  • the North side of Spencer Road from Farrell Drive to Freyman Drive;
  • the East side of Colston Place from Colston Drive to Blaine Drive;
  • the South side of Blaine Drive from Meadowbrook Lane to Ellingson Drive;
  • the South side of Grubb Road from Washington Avenue to Ashboro Drive.
  • both sides of Blaine Drive from Ellingson Drive to the culdesac;
  • the East side of Ellingson Drive from 2621 Washington Avenue to Colston Drive;
  • the West side of Ellingson Drive from Blaine Drive to Colston Drive.

The proposed sidewalks will enhance safety for pedestrians, bicyclists and people with disabilities, as they travel to schools and nearby facilities. Public input is encouraged and will influence whether MCDOT constructs all or a portion of the sidewalks.

The hearing will be broadcast live online at montgomerycounty.adobeconnect.com/rockcreekforestsidewalks. To attend the hearing or to testify, click on the above link and download Adobe Connect when prompted. Adobe Connect uses a telephonic bridge to eliminate echo and feedback during the hearing. To connect:

  • Mute your computer speakers;
  • From a landline or cellular telephone, dial 1-800-832-0736;
  • When prompted to enter the “Meeting Room,” enter 9081014 and press # to establish a connection.
  • To reduce the bandwidth for the hearing, do not enable video.

Prior to the virtual meeting, the public is encouraged to review the below project documents

Written comments or questions may be submitted to MCDOT’s Annual Sidewalk Program by email to dte.sidewalk@montgomerycountymd.gov or lori.main@montgomerycountymd.gov. Written testimony carries the same weight as oral testimony.

Interpreter services will be provided upon request with five business days advance notice.
