For Immediate Release: Thursday, May 13, 2021
The Wheaton branch of Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will resume Holds to Go and telephone services beginning Monday, May 24.
The Wheaton branch services were suspended on March 29 for the Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center (WLCRC) to be used as a COVID-19 vaccine site. While WLCRC will continue to be a vaccine site, the County’s COVID-19 vaccine effort has progressed so the facility can be shared as a vaccine and library services site.
Six other Montgomery County library branches will reopen on Tuesday, June 1 on an appointment basis for browsing and checking out materials, picking up holds, computer use, print/copy/scan services, information and circulation services. Collaboration rooms, study rooms, meeting rooms, and discovery rooms will not be available at this time. The hours at all branches will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; and noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday. Additional information will be posted on the MCPL website as it becomes available. The six branches that will reopen will discontinue the Holds to Go service on May 24, while it will continue at the other 14 branches.
