For Immediate Release: Tuesday, July 6, 2021
The Montgomery County Office of Procurement won a National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award in the category of Information Technology for the DPO Violation E-Notification and Response System. The Office of Procurement has received seven NACo awards in the last 10 years. In the past two years, Procurement received four NACo awards.
The Direct Purchase Order (DPO) Violation E-Notification and Response System, launched in November 2020, is a user-friendly, web-based tool that identifies and notifies department directors and County employees that have created direct purchases in violation of the County’s purchasing policies. This application was created to capture not only violations but also the departmental response and action plan to prevent future violations. It also serves as an educational tool displaying the specific violation areas and matching existing contracts that may be available to address the violation.
“The Office of Procurement continues to innovate through information technology related initiatives,“ said Director Ash Shetty. “We pivoted to hosting a monthly Online Open House, a Virtual Procurement Fair with 600 in attendance and we’re accepting bids online. We redesigned our website and added several “how-to” videos to make information more accessible to the public. We recently launched the Vendor Innovation Portal, a tool to allow businesses to introduce their innovative and potential cost and/or time saving solutions to Montgomery County.”
