Montgomery County Volunteer Center releases FY21 Impact Report

For Immediate Release: Thursday, July 29, 2021

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center (MCVC) has released its Fiscal Year 2021 (FY21) Impact Report. The FY21 Impact Report highlights MCVC’s work during the pandemic in connecting volunteers to community needs as well as its ongoing role as a vital resource for community organizations.

During the pandemic, MCVC became a virtual hub supporting areas of greatest need for volunteers in the community with food packaging and distribution and vaccine registration. The center also continued to serve as an information source for grants and other emerging information for its 1,300 registered nonprofits and agencies. As a part of Montgomery County’s Office of Community Partnerships (OCP), MCVC recruited a corps of Community Ambassadors to conduct vaccine outreach in underserved communities throughout the County. That essential work continues in close collaboration with OCP, the County’s Department of Health and Human Services, and community partners. In addition, MCVC moved its Martin Luther King Jr. Day (also known as “MLK Day”) event activities to a virtual week of projects, during which 8,850 volunteers gave more than 30,360 service hours.
