For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 28, 2021

ROCKVILLE, Md., Sept. 28, 2021—Councilmember Sidney Katz will host the first installment of “Sidney’s Community Conversations” this Friday, Oct. 1 at 12:30 p.m. and he invites all residents to join him for an engaging conversation about a renowned local business. The event will take place on the online video communications platform Zoom.

“Sidney’s Community Conversations” is a new series that will include monthly online events in which Councilmember Katz will invite community businesses to join him for a casual conversation. This week, Councilmember Katz will be joined by Tony Litz, the owner of Victor Litz Music Center in Gaithersburg. The Victor Litz Music Center is a historic music business that has been family-owned and operated for 60 years since 1961. It has provided generations of County residents with classes, instruments, records and more to help spread the love of music.

“I am delighted both professionally and personally to kick off this Community Conversations series with a business I know well and grew up with,” said Councilmember Katz. “Mr. Litz and his family are shining examples of legacy businesses in our County, and I am so excited to speak with him about his journey as both a music man and businessman.”

For more information about this musical institution, see a recent Made In Montgomery video interview with Councilmember Katz and Mr. Litz.
