Finding Quality Child Care and Paying for It to Be Featured at Facebook Live Events Oct. 12 and 13

For Immediate Release: Thursday, September 30, 2021

Two upcoming Facebook Live events will help Montgomery County parents learn about how to find quality child care and figure out how to pay for it. Two sessions are planned—Tuesday, Oct. 12 in English and Wednesday, Oct. 13 in Spanish—and will feature staff from Early Childhood Services, part of the County’s Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), to answer questions from parents and prospective parents.

“Navigating the challenges of child care can be difficult even when we are not in the midst of a pandemic and information is power,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Navigating the system to find quality child care is a challenge and can be difficult, so I encourage all families in need of child care to participate in this event. The information provided will help parents know what questions to ask, where to find resources, and how to locate the best care available for their child’s future successes”

 “I am proud of my work to expand quality child-care slots in the County through the Early Care and Education Initiative,” said County Councilmember Nancy Navarro. “These sessions will offer important information about how to access quality child care, which is key for school readiness and for peace of mind of working parents.”

Participants will learn about:

  • How can parents find affordable, quality child care in Montgomery County;
  • How to select the best licensed child-care program for your child and learn why it’s an important investment in a child’s development and school-readiness;
  • Equitable child-care opportunities, including those for children with special needs; and
  • Information on available child-care financial aid how to apply for them.

These live online sessions will be held at 7 p.m. on the DHHS Facebook page. Sessions are free and no registration is required. Visit the Child Care Resource and Referral Center’s website for more information.
