Public Hearing Notice on Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Appropriation Transfers

The Montgomery County Council will conduct public hearings on the following Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) appropriation transfers on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. The deadline to sign-up to testify for these public hearings is Oct. 25 at 5 p.m.

The public hearings are:

(1) FY22 Capital Budget and Amendments to the FY21–26 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) - Transfer of Funds for the Charles W. Woodward High School Reopening Project would approve the transfer of Unexpended Project Balance within the MCPS FY22 Capital Budget and Amendment to the FY21-26 Capital Improvements Program: Montgomery County Public Schools, Current Revitalizations/Expansions, $4,000,000 to MCPS Local Unliquidated Surplus Account.

AND

(2) FY22 Capital Budget and Amendments to the FY21-26 Capital Improvements Program: Montgomery County Public Schools, MCPS Local Unliquidated Surplus Account, Transfer of Unexpended Project Balance $4,000,000 to Charles W. Woodward High School, would approve the transfer of $4,000,000 in surplus funds towards the construction cost increases.

(3) FY22 Supplemental Appropriations and Amendments to the FY21-26 Capital Improvements Program Transfer of Funds - Capital Projects would approve the transfer of funds from MCPS FY21-26 CIP Dufief Elementary School Addition/Facility Upgrade project to the MCPS Local Unliquidated Surplus Account.

AND

(4) FY22 Transfer within the FY22 Capital Budget from the MCPS Local Unliquidated Surplus Account would approve the transfer of funds from MCPS FY21-26 CIP to Burnt Mills Elementary School, Clarksburg Cluster Elementary School #9, South Lake Elementary, Stone Gate Elementary School, Woodlin Elementary School, and Poolesville High School projects.

 NOTE: During the Covid-19 state of emergency, the public is not able to be physically present in the Council Hearing Room. Residents who would like to call in to testify at a Council public hearing need to preregister on the Council's web page. Once the public hearing sign up request form is submitted and the public hearing list is created, individuals will receive separate confirmation notifications that include the appropriate phone number to call for the public hearing.

Community members also have the option to provide audio, video and written testimony to the Council using a recently developed online testimony form on the Council's web page. The testimony provided with the online option carries the same weight as testimony given at a public hearing. Councilmembers consider all comments as part of their deliberations.
