Councilmember Katz Invites Residents to an Online Community Conversation on Friday, Nov. 5 at 12:30 p.m. with Owner of Carmen’s Italian Ice & Café

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, November 2, 2021

ROCKVILLE, Md., Nov. 2, 2021—Councilmember Sidney Katz will host another installment of “Sidney’s Community Conversations” this Friday, Nov. 5 at 12:30 p.m. and invites all residents to join him for an engaging conversation about a local business. The event will take place on the online video communications platform Zoom.

“Sidney’s Community Conversations” is a monthly series of online events where Councilmember Katz invites community businesses to join him for a fun and casual conversation. This week, Councilmember Katz will be joined by Jason Mandler, owner of Carmen’s Italian Ice & Café. The business is celebrating its twentieth anniversary and first opened its doors in 2001 with the goal to introduce homemade gourmet Italian Ice to the D.C. area, ultimately deciding to open its first shop in Rockville, MD.

“Carmen’s Ice and Cafe is a county institution and has brought smiles to kids and adults alike,” said Councilmember Katz. “We are indebted to Jason for choosing Rockville as his first location for his business. We need to make it easier for more small business owners to call Montgomery County home.”

For more information about this sweet and local business, see a recent video interview with Councilmember Katz and Mr. Mandler.

Those wishing to join can register at the following Zoom link.
