ROCKVILLE, Md., Nov. 4 , 2021 —The featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Pediatrician and Epidemiologist Dr. Ligia Peralta; Interim Senior Manager of the Latino Health Initiative (LHI) Dr. Paola Fernan-Zegarra; and Psychologist and writer Claudia Yelin, joined by her granddaughter Lulú. The show will air tomorrow, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM).

To begin the program, Dr. Peralta will talk about the COVID-19 vaccine for 5 to 11-year olds that was recently approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She will dispel any doubts parents may have related to the vaccine and will talk about the vaccine distribution process, the type and number of doses for minors, mask usage for children and the differences between the vaccine against COVID-19 and the flu vaccine. Following this discussion, Dr. Fernan-Zegarra will join to speak about the LHI’s varied efforts to vaccinate minors, including innovative campaigns to promote vaccination, such as the use of street theater. She will also speak about LHI’s health and wellness program, which provides information and education to the Hispanic community about the COVID-19 vaccines.

To conclude the program, the author Ms. Yelin, joined by her granddaughter Lulú, will present their new children's book titled "Seguros en Casa" (Safe at Home), which talks about the COVID-19 pandemic and encourages children and young people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.

Andrea Sarralde and Liliana Henao are the hosts of this week’s show and will continue to co-host the shows this fall.

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
