Public Hearing Notice on Redistricting, Telework Grant Program, Montgomery Cares Program and Nebel Street Homeless Shelter

The County Council will hold several virtual public hearings in the coming weeks as follows:

November 16, 2021; 1:30 P.M.
Deadline to sign up to speak is November 15 at 5 p.m.

AND

November 18, 2021; 7:00 P.M.
Deadline to sign up to speak is November 17 at 5 p.m.

Expedited Bill 41-21, Elections Council Districts – Boundaries, would revise the boundaries of Council districts, and generally amend the law related to elections and redistricting.

Residents can sign up for the public hearings on redistricting here. The Council is expecting a large volume of speakers for each public hearing about redistricting and wants to hear from residents across our community. The wait lists for these public hearings is just an initial registration step. Council staff will send confirmations to each resident, once it’s determined how many people can be accommodated for each public hearing.

Special appropriation to the FY22 Operating Budget, Montgomery County Government, Office of the County Executive – Online Sales and Telework Grant Program, $869,733 (Source of Funds: State Grant) and an amendment to FY22 Resolution 19-872, Section G, FY22 Designation of Entities for Non-competitive Award Status– Conference and Visitor’s Bureau.

November 30, 2021; 1:30 P.M.
Deadline to sign up to speak is November 29 at 5 p.m.

Expedited Bill 43-21, Health - Advisory Board for Montgomery Cares Program would continue the operation of the Board and remove the sunset provision and also modify the Board’s mission to include underinsured County residents, define low-income, modify the composition of the Board’s members, and require the Board to elect a vice chair.

Amendment to the FY21-26 Capital Improvements Program and Special Appropriation to the FY22 Capital Budget; Montgomery County Government; Department of Health and Human Services; Emergency Homeless Shelter (No. P602103); $2,455,000 (Source of Funds: General Obligation Bonds), would provide $2.455 million in additional funding for the renovation of the new Nebel Street shelter.

NOTE: During the Covid-19 state of emergency, the public is not able to be physically present in the Council Hearing Room. Residents who would like to call in to testify at a Council public hearing need to preregister on the Council's web page at https://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/council/calendar.html. Once the public hearing sign up request form is submitted and the public hearing list is created, individuals will receive separate confirmation notifications that include the appropriate phone number to call for the public hearing.

Community members also have the option to provide audio, video and written testimony to the Council using a recently developed online testimony form. The testimony provided with the online option carries the same weight as testimony given at a public hearing. Councilmembers consider all comments as part of their deliberations.
