Thrive Montgomery 2050 will be the Focus of “En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery” on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. on Radio America

The show will also include a segment on a vaccination event in Gaithersburg for children ages 5-11 

ROCKVILLE, Md., Nov. 12 , 2021 —The featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Council Vice President Gabe Albornoz; Urban Designer and Planner Coordinator for the Montgomery County Planning Department Luis Estrada; and Director of Business Diversity and Inclusion with the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC) Daniel Parra. A segment at the end of the show will include remarks from Pediatrician and Epidemiologist Dr. Ligia Peralta. The show will air today at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM). 

The guests this week will discuss the Thrive Montgomery 2050 draft plan and virtual community listening session, scheduled for November 30, 2021 at 7 p.m. Thrive Montgomery 2050 is a framework to guide land use planning for housing, economic development, equity, transportation, environmental sustainability and more for the next three decades in Montgomery County. 

Council Vice President Albornoz, who also serves as chair of the Health and Human Services Committee and is a member of the Public Safety Committee, will begin the program by discussing the impact of the Thrive Montgomery 2050 draft plan, as well as the Council’s role and upcoming action after the listening session, and highlighting the importance of hearing from diverse voices across the community. Then, Mr. Estrada will talk about the details of the plan’s content and how it was developed by the Planning Department.  

To conclude the show, Dr. Peralta and a few parents will talk about a successful COVID-19 vaccination event for children ages 5-11 that took place last weekend in a majority-Latino neighborhood in Gaithersburg, co-sponsored by the Up County Consolidation Hub and Casa Reuben. The event took place the first weekend vaccinations were launched for this age group.  

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.  

Andrea Sarralde and Liliana Henao are the hosts of this week’s show and will continue to co-host the shows this fall.  

Each week, the show features guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
