Montgomery County Public Libraries Offering the Maryland Day by Day Family Literacy Activity Calendar

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, November 23, 2021

Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is pleased to offer the Maryland Day by Day Family Literacy Activity Calendar. These calendars provide daily educational activities for parents and caregivers to do with their children to get them ready to succeed in school.

“We are so excited to provide these calendars full of fun and engaging activities that promote early literacy,” said MCPL Director Anita Vassallo. “The activities, many requiring no supplies, encourage children to love learning through play.”

Each month of the calendar strengthens children’s attention to detail with illustrated seek and find features. A “Maryland Spotlight,” focusing on the literary and musical contributions of Marylanders, is featured almost every month. Additionally, the calendar has pages on community resources and other learning opportunities.

Calendars may be picked up at any MCPL branch except Maggie Nightingale, currently closed for renovation, and Twinbrook Library, temporarily closed for the replacement of a plumbing line. Calendars will be available at the Twinbrook branch after Jan. 1, 2022.

Day by Day Family Literacy Activity Calendars are being funded by Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc.
