For Immediate Release: Monday, December 6, 2021

Gifting greener and buying local will be the focus for the next session of Montgomery County’s “Eco Evening” virtual town hall series taking place from 6:30-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 8, featuring businesses and entertainment to inspire local gift giving this holiday season.

Montgomery County’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), One Montgomery Green (OMG) and other partners are inviting residents to the virtual holiday celebration to “Gift Outside the Box.” This will be an evening of entertainment, ideas for greener gifting, raffles, interactive games and opportunities to support local nonprofits.

Eco Evenings with DEP and OMG is a series focused on environmental topics. The town hall style meeting is co-sponsored by DEP and OMG. The One Montgomery Green organization fosters partnerships to support environmental sustainability and promote the development of a green economy.

Partners and presenters for the December Eco Evening event include the Montgomery Food Council; Truphena Choti, owner of Afrithrive; Loop Closing, the on-site composting network; music and poetry by students from Community Bridges; and food demonstrations by GreenPlate Catering. Along with games and raffles, the program will feature ideas on supporting local food pantries and information on community farm share programs.
