Additionally, he will discuss two pieces of legislation that the Council is expected to vote on this Tuesday. The first, Bill 21-22, Weapons – Firearms In or Near Places of Public Assembly, is sponsored by Council President Albornoz and aims to help crack down on guns in Montgomery County by prohibiting individuals from carrying weapons within 100 yards of places of public assembly. The second, Bill 39-21, Taxation – Public Safety Officers – Public Safety Emergency Communications Specialist – Property Tax Credit, is sponsored by Councilmember Hucker and Council President Albornoz and would establish a property tax credit for County first responders, with the aim of boosting recruitment and retention efforts. 

Montgomery County Health and Human Services Public Health Emergency Preparedness Manager Sean O’Donnell will join the media availability to provide a public health update.
