Open Enrollment for 2024 Health Insurance Plans will be the Focus of “En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery,” Friday at 2 p.m. on Radio America

The Montgomery County Recreation Department "Rec N' Resources" Open House will also be discussed 

ROCKVILLE, Md., November 2, 2023—The featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Carolina Orozco, outreach coordinator at Montgomery County Health Connection, and Carmen Berrios Martinez, communications and public outreach manager at Montgomery Recreation. The show will air on Friday, Nov. 3 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM) and is streamed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music 

The Montgomery County Health Connection is currently accepting enrollments for 2024 health insurance coverage. The open enrollment period started on Nov. 1 and will continue through Jan. 15, 2024. Ms. Orozco will discuss the enrollment process, how to choose a plan, eligibility requirements and financial assistance options. You can receive assistance in-person or over the phone from Montgomery County Health Connection. To schedule an appointment or get assistance with your health insurance application, please call 240-777-1815 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Alternatively, you can apply online at MarylandHealthConnection.gov. 

The Montgomery County Recreation Department is hosting a "Rec N' Resources" Open House to inform residents about the resources available to the community. The open house will take place on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the East County Community Recreation Center, which is located at 3310 Gateshead Manor Way in Silver Spring.  

The event will feature games, music, arts and crafts, and other family fun activities. Representatives from various County agencies, including the Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Permitting Services, Department of Transportation, Board of Elections, Montgomery College, Mobile Medical Care and many more will be present to provide information about their services. No registration is required for this event.  

Ms. Barrios will also provide details about the registration period for the Recreation Department's winter programs and activities, which opens on Nov. 13. For more information or to sign up for these programs, please visit ActiveMontgomery.org. 

The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.     

Each week, the show features host Marcela Rodriguez, Council program manager and public information officer, and guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
