The Montgomery County Office of Animal Services (OAS) executed a search warrant Tuesday, June 24, at a doggie daycare operating as an unlicensed residential business in the 500 block of Sligo Avenue in Silver Spring. The investigation was initiated following a complaint.
Animal Services officers placed 23 dogs in protective custody and transported them to the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center in Derwood for evaluation and care.
The investigation is ongoing. At this time, no information is being released about the business owner or the conditions in which the animals were kept, and no charges have been filed.
OAS remains committed to protecting the welfare of animals in Montgomery County and will continue to take appropriate action to ensure their safety.
