For Immediate Release: Friday, December 13, 2013

January 16, 2014 : UPDATE ON ARREST OF WANDA BATTLE

Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Detectives are attempting to locate Wanda D. Battle, age 45, who is wanted for committing three violent armed robberies in Montgomery County.  Battle's two robbery co-conspirators have been arrested and are currently incarcerated on these robbery charges.

On December 21, 2011, an armed robbery occurred at the Advance Auto Parts store located at 15316 Frederick Road in Gaithersburg.  Two male suspects approached an employee as the employee opened the store for business.  The suspects, who were masked, forced the employee to open the store safe and then taped the employee's hands and feet with duct tape.

On March 7, 2012, an armed robbery occurred at the same Advance Auto Parts store.  The suspects in this incident, a male and female, committed the robbery in the same manner as the December 2011 robbery.

On September 16, 2012, Takoma Park Police responded to an armed robbery at the Advance Auto Parts store located at 6300 New Hampshire Avenue in Takoma Park.  A male and female suspect, both wearing disguises, entered the store wearing "Just Tires" employee uniforms.  The male suspect forced an employee to an office at gunpoint and threw the female employee to the ground.  Both suspects tied up employees with flex cuffs.  A customer who entered the store during the robbery was also thrown to the ground.  The suspects attempted to place flex cuffs on the customer but were unsuccessful.

Through investigation, detectives identified Steven Williams, age 43, of Frederick as one of the suspects involved in the robberies.  Williams was a former employee of the Rockville Advance Auto and at the time of the robberies, was an employee of "Just Tires."  A search warrant executed at Williams' home, video surveillance, and a fingerprint match to one of the robbery scenes solidified Williams as a suspect.  Further investigation led to the identification of Terriet Williams, age 36, of Washington, D.C. and Wanda D. Battle as the other two Auto Parts suspects.

Steven and Terriet Williams were both arrested, convicted, and are currently incarcerated.  Wanda D. Battle has not been located by police and has a warrant for her arrest.  She is charged with three counts of armed robbery and three counts of first degree assault.

Detectives are asking for the public's assistance in locating Wanda D. Battle.  Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.  Advance Auto is offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of Wanda D. Battle.
