For Immediate Release: Thursday, February 27, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Major Crimes Division continue to investigate two bank robberies that are believed to have been committed by the same suspect.  Both robberies were committed at the Wells Fargo bank located at 8701 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

On Tuesday, January 21, police responded to the Wells Fargo bank for the report of a bank robbery.  At that time, police released details of the robbery and released surveillance photographs of the suspect.

On Friday, February 21, police responded to the Wells Fargo bank for the report of a bank robbery.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect approached the teller, produced what is described as a large kitchen knife, and demanded cash.  He left the bank after receiving an undisclosed amount of cash.

Investigators believe that the robberies were committed by the same suspect based on surveillance photographs and the similar actions of the suspect.  Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect from the photos or has information about these robberies to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
