Update: Hoggle Family Missing Persons Case - Additional Surveillance Video Released

For Immediate Release: Friday, September 12, 2014

The Montgomery County Police Department continues to investigate the missing persons case of Catherine, Jacob, and Sarah Hoggle.

The Police Department remains concerned for Catherine and the children. The last verified sighting of Catherine was on Tuesday morning, September 9 at approximately 4:30 a.m in Germantown  (see video below). There have been no confirmed sightings of the children since they were reported missing by their father (on Monday, September 8).

Today, in addition to releasing new video surveillance of Catherine Hoggle, detectives are releasing additional information that they have learned during this investigation:

  • Catherine Hoggle was captured on building video surveillance in Germantown on Tuesday morning, September 9 at approximately 4:30 a.m. For investigative reasons, the exact location of the building will not be released but is described as being located in the area of Route 118 (Germantown Road) between the area of Interstate 270 and the Germantown Commons shopping center.  Today, detectives are releasing this video to the public.
  •  A Ride On Bus driver believes that Catherine, without the kids, was a passenger on his Ride On bus on Tuesday night (September 9).  At approximately 6:30 p.m., the bus driver believes that a woman who appeared to be  Catherine Hoggle, boarded the bus at the Germantown Transit Center near Route 118 and Aircraft Drive.  She rode the bus to the Gaithersburg Transit Center adjacent to      Lakeforest Mall (701 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg) and exited the bus at that location.  There is no video from the bus.
  • Based on data and information gathered during the investigation, detectives have focused on areas of the County that they believe Catherine may have visited recently. Officers have searched these areas, looking for evidence that could assist detectives in locating the Hoggles. The search process is highly organized and systematic, conducted by police officers, and is overseen by the Montgomery County Police Department Search Team.
  • Today, Montgomery County Police Search managers reviewed, evaluated, and discussed search efforts thus far.  This weekend, there are plans to search multiple areas upcounty. Details will be released once plans are solidified.
The Department appreciates and values the calls that we have received from the public regarding possible sightings of Catherine and other tips that we received.  We encourage anyone with information to call 9-1-1 or the police non-emergency number (301-279-8000).
