Bethesda Fatal Motorcycle Collision Investigated

The Montgomery County Police - Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred this afternoon on Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda.

Today at 12:55 p.m., 2nd District officers and Fire-Rescue personnel responded to Old Georgetown Road and Lone Oak Drive for a personal injury collision involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a tan, 2005, Honda Accord was traveling north on Old Georgetown Road. As the Honda attempted to make a left turn onto Lone Oak Drive, it struck a blue, 2006, Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was traveling south on Old Georgetown Road.

The operator of the motorcycle was seriously injured and was transported to Suburban Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.  He is identified as Gary Bird Seward, 52 years old, of the 7200 block of Greentree Road in Bethesda.  The driver of the Honda is identified as Barbara Ann Wilkerson, 85 years old, of the 9500 block of Linden Avenue in Bethesda.
