Update: Suspect Charged With Attempted Rape

For Immediate Release: Friday, October 16, 2015

Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department – Special Victims Investigation Division have charged Christian Sarria, age 40, of the 20100 block of Hob Hill Way in Montgomery Village, with attempted rape.

On October 8 at approximately 8:47 p.m., 6th District officers responded to a residence on Drexel Hill Circle for the report of a sexual assault.

Investigation revealed that the 46-year-old female victim parked her car in the neighborhood and was walking to her home when she noticed the suspect, now identified as Sarria, following her. The victim started opening the front door to her home when Sarria approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her. She screamed for him to stop and the victim’s brother, who was inside the home, came to the front door after hearing the noise. Sarria fled from the area once the victim’s brother came to the door.

On October 15, police released photographs of the suspect to the media and public. That same evening, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sarria walked into the 5th District station and told officers that he saw his picture on the news and wanted to turn himself in.

Sarria was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with one count of attempted second-degree rape.  He was ordered to be held on a $25,000 bond.
