Update: Germantown Homicide Investigation Continues

For Immediate Release: Monday, December 28, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division have charged Ebou Nyass, age 29, of the 18600 block of Tumeric Court in Germantown, with firearm and narcotic offenses related to the December 16 homicide of Robert Wayne King, age 30, of Frederick.

On December 16 at approximately 7:14 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (9-1-1) received a call for a shooting in the 18600 block of Sage Way. Officers from the 5th District and Fire and Rescue personnel responded and located Robert Wayne King on the ground adjacent to a residence. King was suffering life-threatening injuries from apparent gunshot wounds and was transported to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.

The homicide investigation revealed that Nyass and King agreed to meet to complete a drug transaction in the 18600 block of Sage Way. During the meet, an altercation occurred between Nyass and King which resulted in both subjects being shot. A witness to the transaction stated that King produced and fired his handgun first. A handgun recovered at the scene did not have the characteristics consistent with the weapon thought to have been used to shoot King.

On December 18, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Nyass charging him with one count of possession of a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, one count of possession of a firearm after a prior violent felony conviction, and one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

On December 22, detectives located Nyass at an area hospital after he sought treatment for a gunshot wound and was arrested on the strength of the warrant. Nyass refused to speak with investigators and was transported to the Central Processing Unit. Nyess was released after posting a $100,000 bond. The State’s Attorney’s Office will make a determination on any additional charges in this case.
