Update: Suspect Arrested for Germantown Robbery – Tipster Helped Close This Case

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – 5th District Investigative Section have arrested Timothy Charles Washington, age 36, of the 13000 block of Open Hearth Way in Germantown, for the January 3 robbery of an adult male in the parking lot of the Shoppers grocery store located at 18066 Mateny Road in Germantown.

On January 3 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Washington approached the victim in the parking lot of Shoppers, displayed a knife, and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the victim.

On January 4, detectives released photographs of the suspect and asked for the public’s help in identifying him. Detectives received a tip which led to the identification of Washington as the suspect. Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Washington and arrested him in the area of his home on January 7.

Washington was transported to the Central Processing Unit and charged with one count of robbery, one count of first-degree assault, and one count of theft less than $1,000. Washington is being held on a $75,000 bond.
