Update: Briggs Chaney Area Death Ruled a Homicide

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the homicide of Sheldon Williams, age 20, of the 2000 block of Naylor Road in Southeast, Washington, D.C., that occurred on March 11.

Today, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the manner of Williams' death a homicide due to a gunshot wound to the upper body.

On March 11 at approximately 10:12 p.m., 9-1-1- received a call for the sound of shots fired in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard.  Officers responded to the area but did not locate any evidence of a crime.   At approximately 11:56 p.m., officers responded to the same area of Castle Boulevard for the report of a deceased person, later identified as Williams, who had been found along a paved trail.

This investigation remains open and detectives urge anyone who may have any information regarding this homicide to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240.773.5070. For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).
