Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night in Rockville; the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the hospital this morning.

On April 30 at approximately 11:30 p.m., 1st District officers and Fire&Rescue personnel responded to the 600 block of East Gude Drive for the report of a collision.  Preliminary investigation has indicated that a 57-year-old male, using a wheelchair, was attempting to cross East Gude Drive from the south to the north in the area of the 600 block of East Gude Drive.  He was struck by a 2011 Toyota Scion xB in the westbound lanes of East Gude Drive.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision, to include what the traffic signal indicated at the time of the collision and whether the pedestrian was in the area of the crosswalk.

The driver involved in the collision is identified as David Alan Campbell, age 29, of Rockville.  The pedestrian will be identified once family members have been notified.
