For Immediate Release: Saturday, May 7, 2016
The Montgomery County Police Department continues to investigate the two
Montgomery County shooting incidents that occurred yesterday and involved four victims; two of whom succumbed to their injuries.
As announced previously, the defendant in this case is 62-year-old Eulalio Sevilla Tordil
. He has been charged in Montgomery County with two counts of first- degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, and four counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Tonight, the homicide victims are being identified as 45-year-old Malcom Winffel of Boyds and 65-year-old Claudina Molina of Silver Spring. The names of the surviving victims will not be released at this time as they are witnesses in this case.
At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence to indicate any relationship between Tordil and any of the victims. Detectives, after speaking with Tordil, believe that carjacking may have been a potential motive in the shootings.
Detectives applied for and were granted a search warrant for Tordil's vehicle. A .40 caliber Glock, Model 27, was recovered from his vehicle during the search. Ballistic analysis confirms that this firearm was used in both the Westfield Montgomery Mall and Aspen Hill shootings.
