Update: Silver Spring Apartment Fire Death Investigation - A Fourth Victim Located Deceased; Information on the Missing

UPDATE: August 16, 2016: Silver Spring Apartment Fire Death Investigation – A Seventh Victim Located Deceased; Missing Person Ochoa Located Safe and Unharmed

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) continues its death investigation following a fatal fire that occurred at apartment buildings in the 8700 block of Arliss Street in Silver Spring on the night of Wednesday, August 10.  On Thursday, August 11, public safety personnel located the bodies of two individuals within an apartment building.  On Friday, August 12, personnel located a third body within an apartment building.  The Police Department is now confirming that yesterday afternoon, Saturday, August 13, personnel located a fourth body within a building.

Police investigators have not yet identified these four victims.  The bodies have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy and possible identification.

Police detectives have received information regarding eight people who were believed to be in one of the involved apartment buildings at the time of the fire and are unaccounted for at this time.  (It should be noted that the four recovered bodies are believed to be included within the eight people unaccounted for.  However, investigators cannot dismiss the possibility of additional unknown victims).  Investigators have collected information from family and/or friends of the missing individuals with the exception of missing person, Oscar Armando Ochoa; detectives have not been able to confirm that he was in the apartment building at the time of the fire.

The Department is releasing the names, ages, and photographs of the missing individuals and is asking that if anyone has information that an individual named below is unharmed or can provide information on the person’s possible whereabouts, to please immediately call Montgomery County’s 311 telephone line (240-777-0311 if outside of the County) or the police non-emergency line at 301-279-8000.

3. Maria Auxiliadorai Castellon-Martinez, age 53
4. Aseged Mekonen, age 34
5. Deibi “David” Samir Lainez Morales, age 8

7. Fernando Josue Hernandez Orellana, age 3
8. Saul Paniagua, age 65

The joint investigation between the MCPD, the Department of Fire and Rescue Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is ongoing and the possible cause/causes of this fire are still under investigation.  Search and recovery efforts continue today.

Fuego en los Apartamentos en Silver Spring - Se encuentra el cuerpo de una cuarta víctima; y más información sobre las personas desaparecidas

El Departamento de Policía del Condado de Montgomery (DPCM) continúa su investigación después de un fatal incendio que se produjo en un edificio de apartamentos en el bloque de la calle Arliss 8700 en Silver Spring en la noche del miércoles 10 de agosto. El jueves, 11 de agosto personal de seguridad pública localizaron los cadáveres de dos personas dentro de uno de los edificios. El viernes, 12 de agosto el personal localizado un tercer cuerpo dentro. El Departamento de Policía está confirmando que ayer, sábado 13 de agosto un cuarto cuerpo se localizó dentro de un edificio.

Investigadores de la policía aún no han identificado estas cuatro víctimas. Los cuerpos han sido transportados a la Oficina del Médico Forense en Baltimore para la identificación y autopsia.

Detectives de la policía han recibido información relacionada a ocho personas que es posible estaban en uno de los edificios de apartamentos en el momento del incendio y todavía no se han encontrado. Los investigadores han recopilado información de la familia y / o amigos de las personas desaparecidas con la excepción de Oscar Armando Ochoa.
