Update: Silver Spring Apartment Fire Death Investigation - A Fifth Victim Located Deceased; Search and Recovery Efforts Continue Tomorrow

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) continues its death investigation following a fatal fire that occurred at apartment buildings in the 8700 block of Arliss Street in Silver Spring on the night of Wednesday, August 10.  The Police Department is confirming that this afternoon, Sunday, August 14, personnel located a fifth body within a building.

Police investigators have not yet identified the five victims.  The bodies have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy and possible identification.

The joint investigation between the MCPD, the Department of Fire and Rescue Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is ongoing and the possible cause/causes of this fire are still under investigation.  Search and recovery efforts will continue tomorrow.
