Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Wheaton

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night in Wheaton.

On Sunday, September 25 at approximately 6:22 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Randolph Road and Denley Road for the report of a serious collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Hyundai Sonata was traveling southbound on Denley Road at Randolph Road and a 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on Randolph Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the two vehicles collided in the intersection of Randolph Road and Denley Road.

The driver of the Hyundai is being identified as Michelle Renee Sears, age 30, of the 6500 block of Hil Mar Drive in District Heights.  Sears was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The driver of the Ford is being identified as Pedro Garcia Huerta, age 25, of the 11600 block of Goodloe Road in Silver Spring.  Garcia Huerta was not injured.
