Update: Continuing Investigation of Rape of Teenager in Sandy Spring Area

For Immediate Release: Monday, October 3, 2016

Detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division continue to investigate the Thursday, September 15 sexual assault of a teenager that occurred while she was walking in the Sandy Spring area.

At this time in the investigation, detectives have identified a suspect, have spoken to him, and have determined that this is not a random act.  The State's Attorney's Office is reviewing the facts of this case.

The Department does not believe that there is any threat to public safety in regard to this sexual assault.

Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
