Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department –
Major Crimes Division continue to investigate a homicide that occurred last night in Gaithersburg. At this time, investigators do not believe that this is a random act.
On Monday, October 24 at approximately 9:58 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (ECC) received a 9-1-1 call for a shooting that had just occurred at a residence in the 7900 block of Muncaster Mill Road. Officers from the 6th District and Fire and Rescue personnel responded and located an adult male victim on the back deck of the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the body. First responders attempted life-saving measures but the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The victim is being identified as Ronald Michael Lone III, age 23, of the Muncaster Mill address.
Preliminary investigation by detectives indicates that two suspects, dressed in dark clothing and with their faces concealed, entered the home through the unlocked rear door. There were multiple people in the home at the time. During the apparent home invasion, one of the suspects shot Lone III. Both suspects then fled from the home.
