Detectives Investigate Single-Vehicle, Fatal Collision in Clarksburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle, single-occupant, fatal collision that occurred in Clarksburg on November 24.

On Thursday, November 24 at approximately 12:32 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Frederick Road (Route 355) and Comus Road for the report of a serious, single-vehicle collision that had just occurred.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2012 Nissan Altima was travelling southbound on Frederick Road prior to Comus Road.  For reasons still under investigation, the Altima left the roadway, struck a tree and then struck a telephone pole.  The driver, identified as George William Brust, age 74, of the 5500 block of Feagaville Lane in Frederick, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
