Detectives Investigate Fatal Collision in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred this morning in Gaithersburg.

On Tuesday, November 29 at approximately 11:15 a.m., 6th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Snouffer School Road and Centerway Road for the report of a serious collision that had just occurred.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2000 Acura TL was making a left turn from northbound Snouffer School Road onto westbound Centerway Road and a 2000 Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on Snouffer School Road approaching Centerway Road.  The Acura and the Durango collided in the intersection.

The driver of the Acura, identified as Faisal Munir Dasti, age 42, of Brenish Drive in Gaithersburg, was not injured in the collision.  The front seat passenger, identified as Sultana Firdous Dasti, age 71, of Game Preserve Road in Gaithersburg, was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The driver of the Durango, identified as James Rudnick II, age 46, of Randolph Road in Wheaton, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
