For Immediate Release: Friday, February 3, 2017

Officers from the Montgomery County Police Department have arrested Ian Marquis Anderson, age 19, of the 3500 block of Porter Avenue in Temple Hills, Tyrek Montez Arrington, age 19, of the 6100 block of Mardella Boulevard in Clinton, Elhadj Malick Diallo, age 22, of the 12500 block of Village Square Terrace in Rockville, and Dillon Rashad Lewis, age 23, of the 12900 block of Marlton Center Drive in Upper Marlboro, and have charged them with conspiring to commit yesterday's attempted armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy located at 12359 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.

On February 2 (yesterday) at 4:15 a.m., 4th District officers were dispatched to an attempted armed robbery of the CVS Pharmacy located at 12359 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.  Officers verified the attempted robbery and provided a lookout for the suspect who was described as a medium complected male, wearing a black coat with a hood, a black ski mask, dark pants, and blue and black high top shoes.  The suspect was armed with a revolver.

An officer who was circulating the area looking for the suspect(s) observed a dark colored Nissan Altima traveling north on Layhill Road near Bel Pre Road.  As the officer's cruiser passed the vehicle, the officer observed the back seat passengers duck down below the window.  The officer turned his cruiser around and initiated a traffic stop on the Nissan.  The officer stopped the Nissan based on the occupants' behavior and due to the vehicle being in close proximity to the robbery location during the time of the robbery.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed four males in the vehicle.  The officer also detected an odor of marijuana emanating from inside the car.  The officer noted that one of the occupants was wearing clothing that resembled the clothing worn by the suspect during the robbery.  Officers identified Tyrek Arrington as the driver of the Nissan, Elhadj Diallo as the front seat passenger, and Dillon Lewis and Ian Anderson as the rear seat passengers.  The four males were taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Public Safety Headquarters.

During the search of the suspects' vehicle, a loaded revolver was located beneath the front passenger seat.

During questioning, Ian Anderson admitted to attempting to rob the CVS.  He also admitted to striking one employee on the head with the handgun.

The four suspects have been charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.  They are being held without bond and are scheduled for bond review on Monday, February 6 at 1:00 p.m. in Rockville District Court.
