Update: Detectives Continue to Investigate Montgomery Village Homicide

For Immediate Release: Saturday, February 11, 2017

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate a homicide that occurred yesterday afternoon on Hawk Run Terrace in Montgomery Village.  At this time, investigators do not believe that this shooting was a random event; investigators believe that the victim had agreed to meet the suspect(s) at that location.

The homicide victim is being identified as Wassi Harron Raheem Young, age 20, of Vermont Avenue in Hyattsville.

During the investigation, detectives learned that a 23-year-old male had arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds.  Investigators spoke with this male and determined that he was shot during the same incident in which the homicide victim, Young, was shot.

This homicide investigation is continuing and detectives urge anyone who may have information to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  For those who wish to remain anonymous, Crime Solvers of Montgomery County is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the suspect(s).  Tipsters can call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).

Due to the ongoing investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.
