Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Gaithersburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred this evening.

On Thursday, May 18 at approximately 6:27 p.m., 6th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Woodfield Road and Emory Grove Road for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that an adult female pedestrian was traveling westbound on Emory Grove Road and crossing the northbound lanes of Woodfield Road when she was struck by a 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck.  After the collision, the driver of the Sierra remained at the scene.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.  The driver of the Sierra was not injured in the collision.

The identity of the victim will be released once family notifications have been made.
