Detectives Investigate Kensington Fatal Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last evening in Kensington.

On June 9 at approximately 6:05 p.m., 2nd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Connecticut Avenue at Franklin Street for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that a 2014 Toyota Camry was traveling north on Connecticut Avenue at Franklin Street.  A 2014 Ford C-Max was traveling south on Connecticut Avenue and attempted to make a left turn onto eastbound Franklin Street.  The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

The driver of the Toyota Camry, Jose Luis Fajardo Romero, age 21, of Middlevale Lane in Silver Spring, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  The driver of the Ford C-Max, Sharon Schatzberg Hormby, age 62, of Bitterroot Way in Rockville, was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
