Update: Victim in Sandy Spring Area Suspicious Death Identified

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Major Crimes Division and investigators from the Montgomery County Fire Marshall’s Office continue to conduct a joint vehicle fire and death investigation that occurred on June 17 in the 1300 block of Excaliber Lane.

Today, detectives are releasing identity of the victim.  She is identified as Andrea Mion Hawvermale, age 56, from the 1300 block of Excaliber Lane in Sandy Spring.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore conducted an autopsy to determine Hawvermale’s manner and cause of death.  The results of that autopsy are pending.

On Saturday, June 17 at approximately 8:38, the 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center received a call for a vehicle fire on the property of a residence in the 1300 block of Excaliber Lane in Sandy Spring.

Fire & Rescue personnel and 4th District officers responded to the area and located Hawvermale deceased in the vehicle. Major Crimes detectives responded to the scene and are currently investigating this as a suspicious death.
