Silver Spring Park Death Ruled Homicide; Identity of Victim Confirmed

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) - Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the suspicious death of a male whose body was located by a hiker on Wednesday, September 6 in a creek in the Long Branch Stream Valley Park in Silver Spring. The victim is now being identified as Cristopher Alfredo Funes Guerra, age 20, of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring.  The Medical Examiner’s office in Baltimore has ruled the manner of death a homicide and confirmed Guerra's identity.

Guerra was reported to MCPD as a missing person by his family on September 3.
