Rockville Fatal Collision Investigated

Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Norbeck Road at Nadine Drive in Rockville.

On Saturday, September 16 at approximately 9:16 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded for the report of a serious personal injury collision involving a passenger vehicle and a motorcycle that occurred on Norbeck Road at Nadine Drive.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle was traveling east on Norbeck Road, when for reasons still under investigation, the motorcycle collided with a 2011 Toyota Camry that was being driven south on Nadine Drive at Norbeck Road.

The adult male motorcycle operator was gravely injured and transported to a local trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.  He is being identified as 34-year-old Hector Ernesto Giron Lara of Laurel.  The Toyota was being driven by a 17-year-old female with a 14-year-old male passenger.  They were not injured.

This collision remains under investigation.  Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed this collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620.
