Update: Victim Identified in Bethesda Area House Fire Death Investigation

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, September 27, 2017

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division, through a coordinated effort with Fire and Explosives investigators from the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME), have positively identified the victim who was located deceased at the scene of a September 10 house fire located in the 5200 block of Danbury Road.

The victim is being identified as Askia Khafra, age 21, of the 700 block of Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring.

Khafra’s autopsy results are pending.  A further update will be provided once the OCME has determined Khafra’s manner and cause of death.
