Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) - Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred in Silver Spring.
On Saturday, December 16 at approximately 1:07 a.m., 3rd District officers along with Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Piney Branch Road at Garland Avenue for the report of a pedestrian involved personal injury collision.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a grey 2009 Toyota Corolla was traveling north on Piney Branch Road prior to Garland Avenue, when for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck a pedestrian who was lying on the pavement in the roadway. It is believed that the pedestrian suffered an injury prior to being struck by the Toyota. The type and cause of injury remains under investigation. The 30-year-old male pedestrian was transported to a local trauma center where he was pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the Toyota were not injured.
The pedestrian is being identified as Inmar Alejan Garmendez-Escobar, 30 years old, of an unconfirmed address. The driver is being identified as Noellie Espinal Rosario, 40 years old, of the 1500 block of Overlook Drive in Silver Spring.
