Update: Victim’s Identity Released in Silver Spring Homicide

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the homicide of an 18-year-old male.

Detectives are identifying the victim as Jose Herrera Guzman of an unconfirmed address in Silver Spring.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled his death a homicide by multiple gunshot wounds.

On Sunday, December 24 at 6:31 p.m., 3rd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring for the report of an assault and the sounds of gunshots. First responders located Herrera deceased outside of 1010 Quebec Terrace. He had been shot multiple times.

Patrol officers set up a perimeter in the area. A police K9 also attempted to track the suspect(s) in the area of the shooting. No suspect(s) were located.
