Detectives Investigate Germantown Serious Collision

Update: The driver of the BMW 328i, identified as Javed Fristedt, age 42, of the 9000 block of Nesbit Court in Montgomery Village, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on January 3, 2018.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle collision that occurred last night in Germantown.

On Thursday, December 28 at approximately 9:30 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the area of Brink Road and Cog Wheel Way for the report of a collision that had just occurred.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2015 BMW 328i was traveling east on Brink Road in the area of Cog Wheel Way.  For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck multiple sections of a fence.

The adult male driver of the BMW was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.  He remains in grave condition.  His identity will be released once family is located and notified.

The adult female passenger in the vehicle was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol use by the driver are possible contributing factors in this collision.
