Update: Victim’s Identity Released in Germantown Homicide

Correction: January 5, 2018 - The homicide victim's name has been corrected to Maurice Cortez Mercer. 

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the January 3 homicide that occurred at a residence in the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way in Germantown.

The homicide victim is now being identified as Maurice Cortez Mercer, age 30, of the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled his death as a homicide by gunshot wound.

On Wednesday, January 3 at approximately 3:51 p.m., 5th District officers responded to a home in the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way for the report of a suspicious situation.  First responders located Mercer deceased in the residence from an apparent gunshot wound.
