Detectives Investigate Rape in Gaithersburg; Composite of Suspect Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are investigating the March 16 rape of a 27-year-old female that occurred in Gaithersburg.  Today, investigators are releasing a composite sketch of the suspect and are asking for the public’s help in identifying him.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male and approximately 5' 9? tall.   He was wearing a black hoodie with white fleece lining in it and dark jeans.

On Friday, March 16 at approximately 1:03 a.m., 6th District officers and Gaithersburg City Police officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of Park Avenue for the report of a sexual assault that had just occurred.  The investigation determined that the victim was surprised by an unknown male as she was entering her home.  The assault occurred inside the residence and after the assault, the suspect fled from the home.

Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or who may have information about this rape to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5050.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to their line that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this crime.
