Detectives Investigate Double Fatal Collision in Potomac

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a collision resulting in two deaths that occurred in Potomac last night.

On Friday, March 23 at approximately 7:55 p.m., 2nd District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to Oaklyn Drive at Pleasant Gate Lane for the report of a serious collision.

The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Ford Expedition was traveling westbound on Oaklyn Drive and that a 2015 Mercedes CLA45 AMG was traveling eastbound on Oaklyn Drive.  For reasons still under investigation, the Ford and the Mercedes collided on Oaklyn Drive at Pleasant Gate Lane.  Two rear-seat passengers in the Mercedes suffered life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.  They are being identified as Hersh Bhansaly, age 25, of Bethesda and Brian Everett Laurence, age 25, of Potomac.

The operator of the Mercedes is being identified as Daniel Alex Epstein, age 25, of the 800 block of Larrabee Street in West Hollywood, California. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An adult male front-seat passenger in the Mercedes was transported to a local hospital with non-life- threatening injuries.

The operator of the Ford Expedition is being identified as Addison Leigh Poole, age 16, of the 17500 block of Wheat Fall Drive in Derwood.  She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Two juvenile female passengers in the Ford were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
