--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal, pedestrian hit-and-run collision that occurred early this morning in the Aspen Hill area.

On Friday, June 8, at approximately 3:50 a.m., 4th District officers responded to southbound Georgia Avenue at Hewitt Avenue for the report of a person in the roadway.

Officers located an adult male deceased in the southbound lanes of Georgia Avenue.  It was determined that the male had been struck by a vehicle and that vehicle had left the area.

Based on evidence at the scene, Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives believe that after the initial vehicle struck the pedestrian, at least one additional vehicle also struck the pedestrian.  Evidence also indicates that one of the involved vehicles is possibly a 2011 Chrysler 200 or a 2011 Dodge Avenger (unknown color).  Based on new information, investigators believe that a light-colored Dodge Durango was also involved in this collision.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision, were in the area around the time of the collision and saw something suspicious, or have any information about this collision to please call the 4th District Police Station at 240-773-5500.  Callers may remain anonymous.

The pedestrian's identity will be released once family is notified.
