Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Wheaton

UPDATE: August 21, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. - The pedestrian is now being identified as Tierno Siradiou Bah, age, 69, of the 12000 block of Holdridge Road in Silver Spring.


Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian-involved collision that occurred in the Glenmont/ Wheaton area.

On Monday, August 20, at approximately 8:26 p.m., officers and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to Georgia Avenue (MD- 97) in the area of Glenallan Avenue for the report of a collision involving a pedestrian.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the adult male pedestrian was attempting to cross southbound Georgia Avenue between Glenallan Avenue and Urbana Drive when he was struck by a 2006 Dodge Sprinter that was traveling south on Georgia Avenue.  The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The 56-year-old male driver, identified as Alberto Hilario of Bluhill Road in Silver Spring, remained at the scene.

The pedestrian's identity will be released once family is notified.
