Update: Identities Released in Colesville Area Domestic Murder-Suicide

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division continue to investigate the multiple victim shooting, domestic-related murder-suicide, that occurred this morning in the Colesville area.

This morning, (Monday, September 17) at approximately 12:06 a.m., 4th District officers along with Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the 100 block of Amberleigh Drive for the report of multiple victims shot within a residence at that address.  Five individuals, who investigators have confirmed are family members, were located.  A 57-year-old male and a 48-year-old female succumbed to their injuries on the scene.  A 22-year-old female and two juveniles, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, were transported to local trauma centers in critical condition.  One of the juveniles, a 10-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The female adult victim is now being identified as Sang Yeon Kim, age 48, of that Amberleigh Drive address.

The juvenile male is now being identified as Andy Kim, age 10.

The male, who detectives believe shot his four family members and then himself, is now being identified as Yong Mun Kim, age 57, of the same address.  The investigation by detectives determined that Yong Kim and Sang Kim were married and that Yong Kim is believed to be the father of the juveniles.  The 22-year-old female is the daughter of Sang Kim and believed to be from a previous relationship.
